Center for Baptist Studies (Mercer University) seeks to strengthen Baptists’ understanding of their historical place in the broader Christian Church, and interprets issues and trends in contemporary Baptist life and American culture.

The Mercer Certificate in Baptist Studies (MCBS) is a non-degree program designed to meet the needs of both laity and clergy. It is an effort both to clarify and extend the Baptist vision of Christianity. The program consists of three parts: a supervised reading and written response exercise, design and implement some modest type of practical program related to Baptist Studies; attendance at a lecture by a major Baptist historian, at which time the certificate will be awarded.
