Emerge
Process Builds Congregational Leaders

Another round of Emerge lay leadership training will soon begin, with dates for the intensive leadership development process beginning in early 2008. Two of the weekend-long meetings will be held at Windermere Conference Center near Camdenton, but this year, the final session will take place at the CBF General Assembly in Memphis, TN.

Participants in the Emerge process gain a better understanding of their own leadership strengths and style, spiritual formation, church systems, and missional church concepts. Program graduates emerge as more confident decision-makers, more steady supporters to the church staff and more knowledgeable and prepared leaders in times of church planning, growth and conflict.

Drs. Bob Perry and Marilyn Nelson of Organizational Health Associates lead the Emerge events. Perry has been a pastor, a foreign missionary, a director of associational missions, an organizational consultant and a businessman. Bob has written six books and led hundreds of conferences and consultations nationwide on church leadership, church health and strategic planning. Nelson served for 23 years as a missionary in New Mexico, New York, Missouri and Washington, DC. She was a seminary professor for eight years at the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. With degrees in social work, she has specialized in volunteer management, supervision and lay mobilization.
