About Change for Children
Fellowship Baptist churches and individuals have partnered with CBF field personnel Sam and Melody Harrell and Africa Exchange to help meet the needs of AIDS orphans and other at-risk children in Kenya Africa. Working with Africa Exchange's Change for Children program, we have partnered with the Ngerenya community to build and staff an Integrated Child Development Center.

Achievements and Lessons Learned
Since 1999, Africa Exchange has been involved in development activities directed towards orphans and vulnerable children. Through direct management and operations, capacity building, project development and funding of institutions and partner projects geared towards children at risk, substantial gains have been made and lessons learned.

Building on these experiences, Africa Exchange and its development partners have embarked on an integrated child development program that will provide Change for Children among marginalized populations in Kenya. Among its primary projects and partnerships, the following have been instrumental in making a difference in the lives of children:

Kids to Kids education and feeding project

Baptist Children’s Center - technology education center and community outreach

Eroret Preparatory School - Masai pre-school education, cultural enhancement and sustainable feeding project

Safe access for school children in remote areas through the construction of suspended pedestrian foot bridges in partnership with Bridging the Gap, Inc.

Appropriate Technology - solutions such as solar and wind power generation, rainwater harvesting and purification, drip irrigation in semi-arid areas, sustainable animal husbandry techniques, etc.

Capacity Building - leadership and strategic planning seminars to enhance transformational development.
