FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does CBF of Missouri do?
The Fellowship functions as one way for an individual Christian or for a church to resource their needs and to connect with a larger Christian community. For a growing number of Baptists, the Fellowship is a “denomination-like home” for a post-denominational age. For others it is the best of a missions-focused heritage ready for the 21st Century. For yet others, the Fellowship is a resource for established churches grappling for a fresh vision in a changing culture and for new churches seeking to be grounded for a solid future. CBF of Missouri has a clear set of core values, a strategic plan, and a structure that can be useful to churches and individuals seeking to discover and fulfill their God-given purpose.

How can I get involved in CBF of Missouri?
There are a variety of ways an individual can participate in the Fellowship. One way is to PRAY. We will be glad to provide you with a complimentary subscription to the Connect newsletter. Visit this website or the CBF website for updates. As you learn more about the Fellowship, you will know better how to pray.

Consider how you can SERVE through CBF or CBF of Missouri. There is an array of opportunities for short-term and longer term missions service. It may be as part of a Project Visit to China or a week in one of the 20 poorest counties in America. For students, we encourage spending one summer or a semester working alongside CBF field personnel through Student.Go.Adults wanting to serve among neglected or marginalized peoples will want to consider being an AsYouGo affiliate.

To GIVE is a third component of participating in the Fellowship. Our staff presence is an encouragement to pastors and laypersons throughout Missouri. One of the great gifts of the Fellowship is our capacity to network individuals and churches. Choosing to undergird with finances specific projects that engage your life's energy is another opportunity. Our staff can visit with you about a range of creative giving approaches that can fulfill the support of missions and ministry can inspire you.

Our hope is that your involvement with the Fellowship will strengthen your ability and boldness to be the presence of Christ in your own community.

How can my church cooperate with CBF of Missouri?
Churches cooperate with the Fellowship at their level of need and interests. Churches in transition or crisis may call on CBFMO as a resource for strategic planning or placement help. It may be a desire to personalize the church's response to global missions. It may be resourcing and networking with education and worship plans. It may be to find a network of kindred Baptists who share common values and goals. What are the burning desires and important needs of your own church?

One of the best aspects of partnering with the Fellowship is that there is no requirement or expectation that you hinder your relationships with existing ministry partners. We believe your church can best decide who can help as you discover and fulfill the church's God-given mission.

We provide a compelling array of entry points into a larger Christian community. It would be an honor to partner with you.

What does CBF of Missouri believe in?
The core theological beliefs of Fellowship members can be found within this statement approved by Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in 1994.

All of us are called to be co-laborers in the task of fulfilling our Lord’s Great Commission. We believe the Bible teaches that …

  • God is the one triune God, Creator of all people in God’s own image
  • All people are separated from God by sin.
  • Christ is the Savior and Redeemer for all peoples.
  • The Holy Spirit convicts and converts all who believe in Christ, teaches the church in the voice of the Living Christ, and empowers the church and all believers for the mission of Christ in the world.
  • Christ calls us to minister redemptively to the spiritual, physical, and social needs of individuals and communities.
Every believer and every church is responsible for sharing the Gospel with all people.

We want to enable believers and churches to work cooperatively with other Great Commission Christians to activate this global missions calling in their communities and throughout the world.

Our core values, lived out by the things we do and the way we relate to one another, are these:
  • Biblical literacy
  • Global missions
  • Baptist freedoms
  • Empowered leadership
  • Hospitable dialogue
  • Contextual ministry
  • Compassionate justice
  • Strategic partnerships
