Matthew 25 Project Offers Students Transformational Week of Service

A house in Kansas City – cracked and peeling paint, roof badly in need of repair, a yard overgrown with weeds and littered with trash. For some, that house is simply an eyesore, a problem for the city to solve. For others, that house is an opportunity to help change the neighborhood and share the love of Christ through service.

This summer, William Jewell College will offer a weeklong transformational experience for college and high school students and adults called Matthew 25 Project. Participants, serving in partnership with the City of Kansas City Missouri, will work to improve substandard housing in the city’s urban core. Taking their cues from Matthew 25:40, the students will do painting, roofing, and other minor home repairs – all in the name of Christ.

About 250 students from various denominational backgrounds are expected to participate. Lodging will be at William Jewell’s Liberty campus, and evening times will be spent in group devotionals and worship, led by Mitch McCaskell from Mississippi College. Ahmad Washington, college minister at Carver Park Baptist Church, is the featured speaker for the week, June 7-14. Registration cost is $295 per person for the week.

For more information, contact Jeff Buscher, William Jewell College campus minister, at 816-415-7560 or buscherj@william.jewell.edu.
