St. Louis Native Returns to Missouri with PASSPORTkids!

When PASSPORTkids! returned to Windermere this summer, St. Louis native Phil Gill was a big part of the fun. A senior at Drake University in Des Moines, IA, Gill has spent the past two summers with the mission-themed camp, this year as a Bible study leader and last year as a videographer.

"My two years working with PASSPORTkids! have blessed me in numerous ways," Gill beams. "I have had the opportunity to interact with thousands of children in multiple states across the country. I have been able to share the love of God with those children allowing them to see God through everyday acts."

Gill is a member at Webster Groves Baptist Church in St. Louis and continues to be actively involved at the church when he is in town. He has assisted as a music worship leader, has led the music of Vacation Bible School and served as a leader of the youth ministry.

Dean Stewart, pastor of Webster Groves, appreciates the gifts Gill brings to the church and to children across the country. "Phil brought a report to us following his 2007 summer with PASSPORTkids!. He is a great Christian gentleman with a lot of talent in drama and music," says Stewart.

Gill has fond memories of the church as well. "I began attending WGBC due primarily to proximity at first but began to make it my church home. I spiritually was able to grow again with a new church family that readily adopted me and acted as if they had known me for years," recalls Gill. "I would not have been able to be the man I am today if it were not for the support and love of those members."

The PASSPORTkids! camp at Windermere was the last of the season for Gill. The camp, which was supported by CBF of Missouri and the Baptist General Convention of Missouri, hosted children and adult workers from several churches around the state. The missions offering received during the week went to help CBF field personnel Rick and Ellen Burnette in their work with the Hilltribe people in Thailand.
