CBF to Unveil Church Planning Resource

A new resource for church planning, Destinations, will be introduced at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s General Assembly June 28-29 in Washington DC.

Produced by the Fellowship’s Congregational Life initiative and written by Fellowship congregational ministers, the new resource helps churches discern their destination as a community, develop goals and map out ways to meet those goals. The resource is ideal for missional churches, who are seeking to be the presence of Christ both in their local communities and the global community of God’s world.

"Destinations takes the process of annual planning to a missional perspective," said Bo Prosser, the Fellowship’s coordinator of congregational life. "This moves a congregation from focusing on what has to be done, to focusing on God-given opportunities and passions that are available to impact the Kingdom. That is a huge shift towards missional leadership. The development team has added an important resource towards helping congregations build upon our ‘It’s Time!’ family of resources."

"Destinations resources churches as they discover and fulfill their God-given mission," said Rick Bennett, the Fellowship’s congregational life specialist. "The resource helps churches tend to one of the most neglected aspects of healthy congregational life – intentionality. By so doing, Destinations helps churches move forward, toward more effective and faithful discipleship and missional engagement."

The resource contains Web aides, ideas for ministry events, discussion guides and suggestions for additional resources.
