Missourians Join in CCT Event CBF of Missouri coordinator Harold Phillips, moderator Brian Ford, and Missouri Baptist Foundation president James Smith joined leaders from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and 35 other churches and Christian organizations at the annual meeting of Christian Churches Together (CCT). "Christian Churches Together is the broadest ecumenical experiment ever attempted in this country," said Fellowship coordinator Daniel Vestal. "It represents a desire for Christian unity that doesn’t compromise the integrity of any of the participating bodies, but creates a way for us as Christians to draw closer to one another in Christ and explore ways for us to share a common witness to the nation." The 2007 meeting focused on evangelism, as representatives from the five Christian faith families – Evangelical, Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, Protestant – each presented papers on the subject. Seminary students representing the different denominations were also invited to participate in the session on evangelism. "I left the Christian Churches Together meeting grateful for the Baptist community I am part of and humbled that we are just one small part of the bigger world in which the Spirit is moving," noted Phillips. Officially formed in 2006, CCT seeks to encourage and facilitate the development of relationships across denominations. The Fellowship was one of the founding members.
