New Baptist Covenant

In this new day, Baptists have the opportunity to re-define ourselves. Have you read about the New Baptist Covenant, championed by Jimmy Carter?

Some secular papers covered the recent press conference as if there will be a new national "convention" or organization to emerge. Not so. The national organization is already in place and has been for years—the North American Baptist Fellowship (NABF), groups (in the USA and Canada) that are part of the Baptist World Alliance. The NABF represents about 18 million Baptists of many races and ethnic backgrounds.

The Jan 30- Feb 1 gathering will be a tremendous opportunity for Baptists of all types to gather in Atlanta for renewal, worship, and learning how we can work together to address chronic issues in our country. The hope is to collaborate around evangelism and social causes — as described by Jesus in Luke 4: 18-19.

I am glad the Fellowship will be part of the New Baptist Covenant. My goal is for 100 Fellowship Baptists from Missouri to be among the 10-20,000 Baptists in Atlanta next January!
