Missouri Sports Ministry Helps Middle East Countries Celebrate Jesus Beirut, Lebanon is an ancient city whose modern history has been scarred by sectarian conflict and war. But in the middle of this primarily Muslim community, Chaouki Boulos and Living Faith Ministries are proclaiming the good news of Christ through open air revival meetings called Celebrate Jesus. Rob Kinnard, founder of International Sports Evangelists based in Richmond, Missouri, has worked with Boulos since 2000. "The ISE team walks hand in hand with Living Faith, sharing Christ through children’s ministry, speaking in churches, singing, discipleship, Celebration site set up, and street evangelism," Kinnard says. According to Boulos, a Celebrate Jesus event "will bring revival to the churches, encourage them with the great commission, and empower them to reach the world." "God is using Living Faith Ministries in incredible ways in touching the country of Lebanon," beams Kinnard. "I have witnessed miracles of those who you would have never dreamed accepting Christ, come to their knees, and proclaim Him as their Lord and Savior." Boulos is Middle East Strategic Coordinator with Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Coordinator of Living Faith Ministries. He recently visited Missouri to share about his work. "Doors are opening in many directions," stated Boulos. "So there is a place for everyone who would like to help, whether with prayer, money, technical expertise, or in hands-on ministry." Celebrate Jesus began in 1999 when Boulos and his wife, Maha, felt God’s call to spread the gospel in the Middle East. At the time, the Bouloses were living in North Carolina, but Chaouki began traveling to Lebanon to talk with pastors about holding a revival meeting. With the help of local churches, the first Celebrate Jesus event took place in July of 2000. Since then, the opportunity to host revival meetings has grown in Lebanon and has spread to a number of other countries, like Egypt and Jordan. As a result, thousands of people have attended the Celebrate Jesus meetings and many have become followers of Jesus. "Chaouki tirelessly serves the Lord, and truly has God’s vision for mass evangelism in the Middle East and beyond," says Kinnard. "Along with the other ISE team members, I consider it a privilege to serve in Lebanon, and we are committed to being obedient to God’s call." |
