Assembly Will Challenge and Inspire

Centered around the theme "Famished Lands…the Great Physician," the 2007 CBF of Missouri General Assembly, scheduled for April 27-28, will feature a number of events that will challenge and inspire church leaders of all kinds. All events will be at First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit.

Friday night will begin with a Mission and Ministry Banquet. Attendees will enjoy a meal with new and old Fellowship friends while CBF of Missouri reviews missions and ministry highlights from around the state. To pay for dinner, a suggested donation of $10 will be accepted.

The highlight of Friday evening will be the Kate Campbell concert, benefiting KidsHeart Africa. Kate Campbell’s musical style has its roots in Southern rock, country and folk, and her gift for storytelling has drawn praise from critics and fans alike. During the concert, Dr. Ken Hall, president of Buckner International, will give a special presentation about the orphan crisis in Africa. We’ll learn what we can do to help some of the 12 million African children who have lost one or both parents to AIDS.

A short reception will follow the concert.

On Saturday, the General Assembly will feature a number of informative breakout sessions for clergy and laity as well as times of food and fellowship. Breakout sessions will include:

• The New Baptist Covenant and CCT

• Adopting a Missional Mindset

• Best Practices of Generous Congregations

• Working with Church Conflict in Healthy Ways

• Searching for Paradise: Placement Processes in the 21st Century Church

• Discover Your Leadership Style

• and many more

Prior to the General Assembly, CBF of Missouri will host the annual Leadership Seminar on Friday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event – for ministers, staff and key church leaders – will be led by Bo Prosser, Coordinator for Congregational Life with Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Bo will help participants wrestle with the challenge of implementing missional church ideas. The Leadership Seminar registration of $25 includes lunch.

An overnight youth event focusing on the culture and challenges of life in Africa is also being held during the weekend.
