CBF of Missouri Offers Website Assistance to Churches David Johnson, pastor of Overland Baptist Church in St. Louis, didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on his church’s website. "I wasn’t looking for anything too elaborate, just a couple of pages," Johnson remembers. "We began distributing our church newsletter as an e-mail attachment last year and developing a web site seemed like the next logical step." Prominent church consultants agree that a church’s website is an important tool in making a positive first impression with potential visitors. "Most people under the age of 40 grew up with technology, and they automatically go to the Internet for information," states Terrell Sanders, president of church consulting company Main Street Enterprises. "We have found that many families relocating to a new city will research both where to love and where to worship over the Internet." However, many churches do not have the funds or expertise to build a quality website. Johnson learned from Harold Phillips, CBF of Missouri coordinator, that churches can receive website design assistance from the CBF of Missouri for free. "Our associate coordinator, Jeff Langford, has experience in web design and has helped several organizations and churches with their online needs," says Phillips. "CBF of Missouri will even host the site, if that is something the church needs." Johnson’s advice to other churches looking to build or enhance their website is "Don’t be intimidated by the technology. It isn’t necessary to spend a lot of money doing this and CBF of Missouri can help." |
