Lisenby Shares Good News from China

CBF in China representative Brenda Lisenby recently updated CBF of Missouri on the work happening in the Guangxi Province. For several years, Missouri churches and individuals have supported Brenda and other CBF representatives there.

My big news this past week is the Fanglei Village School dedication. I traveled there with Pastor Zhao. This project began last year with a visit from CBF Missouri. They traveled to Fanglei in May 2005 and listened to Pastor Zhao as she shared her heart and her vision for taking the church beyond their walls into their community. As a result, Fanglei has a safe classroom building (partnership of local county government, villagers, and CBF Missouri), as well as scholarships for female students to remain in school and school supplies given by the Zhongshan RoadChurch in Nanning. Brothers and sisters have already made several trips to Fanglei to encourage the villagers, and several young people would like hold Summer Camps there next year. In short, Pastor Zhao’s vision of getting her congregation involved in the local community is off to a good start and Zhongshan Road Church (the people!) is sharing love and being the presence of Christ. Pray for Pastor Zhao as she pastors her congregation, for her family, for wisdom, for a healthy and balanced life.

Thank you for the prayers for Director Pan. Please continue to remember her, as her first week on the job at Angel House, she had to go into the hospital for an appendectomy. When I visited with Kate last Friday, Director Pan was doing well and expected to be back at Angel House soon. Continue to remember Kate, Director Pan, and the transitions at Angel House.

Next week, Kentucky volunteer Suzann Fenton will be arriving in Nanning for the fourth training session for the Angel House Early Intervention project. It will be a time of program evaluation and progress reports. Pray for the Angel House Early Intervention teachers and Suzann, that this will be a good time of celebration of the past year of hard work and hope for the future of Early Intervention services at Angel House. Pray formyself and others who will be providing interpreting.

An update on my personal note! I have enjoyed the time with the children at the YWCA, singing songs, learning colors, and saying "ABCs". We had only been one time, but when Nok (my friend from Thailand with whom I am teamed) and I arrived yesterday, all the children greeted us by name and with great big smiles as they were finishing their breakfast.  And thank you too for your prayers for my health. I am doing well.

Brenda
