From the Coordinator

When CBF’s Together for Hope rural poverty initiative started in 2003, CBF folks were in a vacuum. We were familiar (if not necessarily comfortable) with African-American poverty and Hispanic poverty and our own Anglo poverty. But Indians in South Dakota?

The existing partnership between Mid American Indian Fellowships and CBF of Missouri provided a valuable and trusted resource. Robert Francis helped Fellowship leaders understand Native American attitudes toward tradional Christianity, and he taught them – just as he has many of our churches – about Indian culture. Indian leaders began to trust this unknown group called CBF because of the trust shown by Robert Francis.

Our continuing partnership with Robert is just one of the ways the Show Me Missions offering strengthens the Fellowship, and in fact, the work of Christ.

This offering is like a quilt given as a tangible symbol of thanks by Indians. The Show Me Missions offering strengthens long-tenured and trusted Baptist institutions throughout Missouri. It helps grow the kingdom with better leadership. It enlarges the Fellowship with church starts and ethnic ministry.

The steady and sure ministry of Robert Francis with the 60,000 Indians in Missouri is just one way this offering is helpful. Having Robert Francis as a friend and trusted partner is evidence of how partnerships are priceless.
