Intersecting with the Work of God: Show Me State Missions Offering

Once again this year, the Show Me State Missions Offering focuses on the theme Intersections, a unique image of God’s work in our state.

Intersections come in different forms. Offering posters and bulletin inserts feature pictures of highways, neighborhood streets and country roads, reminding us that churches and individuals are serving God throughout Missouri in urban, suburban and rural settings. No matter the size or quality of the road, God walks alongside.

We can meet God on that road by giving to the Show Me State Missions Offering. Through the offering, our financial resources can help others serve when and where we cannot. And every dollar given goes directly to missions and ministries in Missouri, with no money taken out to cover administrative expenses.

Where does the Show Me State Missions Offering go?

Future Generations

New Church Starts: CBF of Missouri is committed to helping start new churches in Missouri, and funds from the state missions offering can help defray the costs of important outreach activities for new congregations.

Annual Youth Retreat: In April, students from around the state gather for the Youth Bash, held in conjunction with the CBF of Missouri General Assembly. The event can be especially meaningful for smaller churches and those without a paid youth minister.

Student Missions Scholarships: College students may choose to give a summer or semester in service through CBF’s Student.Go program. Students from Missouri receive an additional $1,000 stipend from CBF of Missouri.

Ethnic-based ministries

Native American Ministry: Guided by consultant/helper Robert Francis, the Mid American Indian Fellowships shares the gospel in culturally appropriate ways for Native American people in Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas. Robert is also a key leader in the work with the Lakota people in South Dakota.

African American College Ministry: Yvonne Dennis leads the Regeneration Collegiate Christian Ministries in Cape Girardeau. This growing ministry to African American students on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University reaches hundreds of young men and women and is an influential part of campus life.

Hispanic Ministry: As Missouri’s Hispanic population continues to grow, the need for churches and ministries to serve that population also grows. CBF of Missouri helps supports a Hispanic congregations in Columbia and we continue to nurture relationships and opportunities with Hispanic work in Jefferson City, Lee’s Summit and St. Louis.

Russian Ministry: Offering funds help support the work of a Russian congregation in Kansas City.

Romany/Gypsy Ministry: The offering also helps a church serving the Romany/Gypsy community in St. Louis.

Missouri Institutions and Organizations

The good work of our Baptist entities continues. The Baptist Home, Windermere, Missouri Baptist Foundation, Missouri Baptist University, William Jewell College, the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home and Word & Way benefit from your giving to the offering.
